Benjamin Heller is a photographer and multimedia artist based in New York City.
He grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His work explores a connection between the movement of the body, transformation and the power of the physical world. More focused on transformation than documentation, he has an active process of entering the action from the inside; beginning an improvisation with the subject or environment.
His work seeks to create images and environments with a self-contained narrative that sparks our imagination within the stillness of a single moment. Art can create a place to be, somewhere to fall into; a space to disappear into in order to fully emerge. The image or space becomes a world in itself in which life happens from the inside out.
